My Way or the Highway! - Marriage Goals {Linkup}

You guys! I am so super excited to co-host the Marriage & Relationship Goals linkup this month. I've been linking up with Amberly for a while now and these are always my favorite posts to read and write.

Anyway, with the new year and all this talk about resolutions, I think a monthly goal is refreshing and a lot easier to manage and keep up with. This month, I want to love my husband for who he is. I am not going to try to change anything about him. I mean I did fall in love with him after all.
Now don't get me wrong. I do love my husband for who he is. I am not one of those girls who married my husband thinking I could change him later to fit my mold. But I do find myself sometimes wishing that he would do something differently. Or I'll think "Why can't he be more like me?" And sometimes I get really frustrated when he doesn't know what I want without my telling him.

When I was thinking about this goal over the weekend, I realized it will be easier said than done. When disagreements happen, isn't it human nature to want to change the other person before we change ourselves? But that is selfish. There really isn't a better word for it. But the truth is that God made each of us unique. This means even if He created Pearson and I with the other in mind, we are still completely different. We complement each other in our differences and I need to learn to embrace that.

So this month, I will learn to accept our differences and even enjoy them. I'm going to appreciate the fact that that we don't think exactly alike and turn my negative thoughts about these situations into positive ones! Hey, maybe I could even learn a thing or two from him!
