Daily Makeup Routine

This post contains some affiliate links. Also, I was given the Maybelline Brow Drama products to review. All opinions are mine alone.

As you guys know, I am not a beauty blogger. Or a fashion blogger. Duh, right? But I do sometimes like to consider my blog a "lifestyle blog with an emphasis on marriage" because while I'm very passionate about marriage and it's something I blog about a lot, there are other things I like to blog about too.
I've been toying around with the idea to do a "daily makeup routine" post for a long time. I haven't published it for several reasons. One being the fact that I'm not a beauty blogger and it doesn't go with the theme of my blog. Another being that I'm not a Youtuber. Most "daily makeup routine" type things you see on the interwebs are in the form of videos. I am not very comfortable in front of the camera nor do I have the software to edit videos to my own standards.

However, Helene of Helene in Between is not a beauty blogger either and she recently wrote a post about her daily makeup routine using pictures and text, not video. Of course she posted a video about it later but that's neither here nor there. After seeing her post, I started thinking again about posting my own makeup routine.

Lastly, when I got my most resent voxbox from influenster and it was a Maybelline box, I knew I had to do this post!
Also, usually I can tie anything I blog about back to marriage in some way just because my marriage is such a big part of my life. So here we go... This makeup is certainly fancy enough for a special date night but just tone down the lipstick and eye shadow/liner to look fresh for your relaxed date night at home!

So let's get on to the routine, shall we?
Makeup-free. Yay!
First, on my face, I use e.l.f. primer. I put a little on my hands and simply rub it all over my face. I used to use the Mineral Infused Face Primer, but last time I bought the hydrating one instead. I don't like it as much as the other. It hydrates really well but it doesn't seem to work as well as a primer. And it leaves my hands really slippery.

Secondly, I use Younique's Touch Mineral Liquid Foundation. Y'all, this stuff is amazing! A friend of mine sells it and she talked me into trying it last fall. I will never go back to another foundation. When I ran out a couple months ago, they were all back ordered on the website and it was the worst few weeks ever! Anyway, I use the e.l.f. Studio Complexion brush. I put about 5 drops of the foundation on the brush and dab it all over my face before blending it all over and down my neck with the brush.
Next comes concealer/highlighter. I use the Maybelline New York Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer in light. I turn it a few times then create a triangle shape under my eyes, and along my t-zone. I blend that in with a REVIVE Makeup Sponge. I don't love the concealer but it's as good as or better than any other I've tried. However, I LOVE the sponge. I have never actually tried a Beauty Blender, but I did a lot of research before I bought a dupe and according to most reviews I've seen, this is the best dupe. I got it from Marshalls for about $5 and I've heard you can get it at TJ Maxx or Ross or any of those type stores for around the same price.
After that, I do some contouring. I use the e.l.f. Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder in St. Lucia. I use the e.l.f. Angled Blush Brush to swipe the bronzer under my cheek bones, along my jaw line, across the top of my forehead, and down each side of my nose. Then I use the same brush to apply the blush to the apples of my cheeks. Then I use the e.l.f Complexion Brush that I mentioned earlier to blend everything in.
Then I move on to the eyes. The first step I do is color in my brows with Maybelline's Brow Drama Promenade Crayon that I got from Influenster to review. I love how easy it is to just swipe it over your eye brows a few times to the desired thickness. The only problem is you can't really sharpen it. You aren't really supposed to need to because you can twist the bottom to make more come out, but the point gets dull pretty quickly and then I don't know what to do.
After I fill in my brows, I put some eye shadow on. I won the Urban Decay Naked 3 Pallette from a giveaway last summer. Honestly, I would have never bought it for myself for $50+ but I love it! I usually do either "trick" or "burnout" all over the lid and the "liar" in the crease and "strange" on the brow bone, in the corner, and under my eye.
Then I use a black eyeliner pencil (I don't know what brand and the writing is wiped off) to line the top and bottom lashes from the outer corner to about half way in. Then I curl my lashes with an e.l.f. eyelash curler and put on a few coats of Maybelline New York Great Lash Big Washable Mascara in blackest black. I've used this mascara ever since I started wearing mascara and I love it! I've tried a few others including non drug store brands like Mary Kay and I just like the Maybelline Great Lash so much better!
Last but not least, comes my lips! First I line them with the Maybelline New York Colorsensational Lip Liner. I don't know what color I use. Then I use Younique Stiff Upper Lip Lip Stain in Shy. Honestly, I don't think this lip stain stays as long as other lip stains I've used. BUT it doesn't dry out my lips like other lip stains have. And it definitely stays longer than regular lip stick. So it's a pretty good trade off.
The finished product!
So what do you think? Can you tell I like Maybelline and e.l.f.? I'm not one to spend a lot of money on makeup. For the most part, drug store brands are good enough for me. I only use a couple Younique products because I tried them from a friend. Now I can't live without the foundation but I don't think I'll be buying the lip stain again.

What products do you use in your every-day makeup routine? If you've written or filmed a post like this, leave the link in the comments. I'd love to check it out!
